The Pan book of card games is without doubt one of the finest books on the subject in existence. It is perfect for solving those arguments about which hands are the highest scoring and so forth while also being a source of inspiration for new games and variants. This said, at times it can be vague about a rule and requires re-reading, but on the whole it’s good for anyone from an occasional solitaire player to large scale poker matches.
