After some basics, about 60% of the book is given over to teaching a simple Standard System with five-card majors and weak twos. However, it uses old fashioned responder's jumps to 2NT and double jump raise of one of a suit as game forcing. There is a practice deal at the end of each chapter that emphasises both bidding and play. The sections on play and defence are pleasant, if workmanlike.
