This was written by Reese and promoted by Cohen. The partnership eventually dissolved as Reese felt Cohen was taking undue credit. Later editions with Cohen were known as "The Acol System of Contract Bridge". This was a seminal booklet for British Bridge as it is one of the first books on bidding to have anything close to a modern feel. The original version is no longer used but its basic themes are still present in many modern versions of Acol, which is a testimony to the soundness of the original design. The third edition had an appendix with twelve hands from Reese and Simon's Par Contest while in the 1949 and 1955 books it contained selected hands from International Events.
