Description:
Review by Tim Bourke: A bland introduction to Auction that gives unstructured advice on bidding, a few pages on each of the play of the hand, doubling and redoubling. Its last chapter, "A B C of Auction", is a mini-dictionary of the game. All printings concluded with a reprint of the then current Laws. The first few printings carried a treasure for collectors, a partial bibliography of bridge based on the collection of Frederick Jessel. Other points of interest include the section on Contract Bridge, with auction scoring. By the fifth impression, these had been excised and the books dimensions reduced to about 175x105mm.
with 1929 laws.
