Longtime mystery reviewer Shirley Presberg enjoys mystery fiction and bridge, so it makes sense that she would combine her enthusiasms in a novel that moves like a card game -- with a gun in it. In her first novel, Death by Contract, Presberg handles a large cast in mysterious circumstances at a pell-mell pace, click-click-click, no waiting. The book, like the peripatetic Presberg, moves faster than a John Scarne shuffle.
