Review by Tim Bourke: This very personal book is the only one by a player judged to be one of the very best of all time. It has practical and not too dogmatic advice with lots of hands featuring the author and other US experts of the time. A couple of slips in the first edition were the subject of articles in "The Bridge World". Sobel corrected the hand played by Sam Fry on page 11 in "The Bridge World" too. Another embarrassing slip was not corrected; the simple safety play on page 130 (Q982 opposite A107653 where the play recommended is low TOWARD rather than AWAY from the queen - an error, that surprisingly, "Reese on Play" has on p86). Notably, the Fry hand is missing from the 1961 paperback edition.
