The author attempts to develop a basis logical thinking in play and defence, first in notrump and followed by trump contracts. The text could be classified as dull but with its heart in the right place. The final section on bidding is more controversial - hand evaluation, in particular, seems wanting. In summary, an old-fashioned book that covers much reasonably well but could have been made more readable by editorial cutting.
